KARACHI: Karachi has witnessed a major rise in site visitors accidents, with 99 main incidents reported within the first 37 days of 2025, leading to 39 fatalities, ARY Information reported citing site visitors police.
Six site visitors accidents occurred in Karachi up to now 24 hours alone, claiming 9 lives and injuring 9 others. Most accidents concerned heavy automobiles, together with dumpers, trailers, and oil tankers.
Based on site visitors police, in January and first six days of February 2025, 32 accidents concerned heavy site visitors.
Three dumper accidents resulted in 5 fatalities, whereas 10 trailer accidents claimed 12 lives. 13 truck accidents resulted in 13 fatalities, the site visitors police added.
Different accidents included 5 water tanker incidents, which claimed eight lives, and one oil tanker accident, which resulted in a single fatality.
Accidents occurred on varied roads, together with the Tremendous Freeway (10 incidents), Northern Bypass (4 incidents), Nationwide Freeway (6 incidents), and Bin Qasim Port space (7 incidents).
Committee fashioned
In response to the rising variety of accidents, the site visitors police have taken motion, issuing 34,655 challans and arresting 490 drivers. Moreover, 532 car health certificates have been canceled.
A four-member committee has been fashioned to analyze the causes of the accidents and recommend measures to enhance street security. The committee will assessment the health certificates of oil tanker dumpers and water tankers in addition to and licenses of these driving the automobiles.

Earlier on Thursday in yet one more tragic street accident because of free roaming of heavy site visitors in Karachi, two members of a household have been killed whereas a feminine was critically wounded after a rushing dumper hit their bike in Malir.
The tragic accident was reported close to Malir Halt that claimed the lives of a father and son after a dumper ran over their motorbike. The mom sustained accidents, rescue officers confirmed.
The deceased have been recognized as Saleem and his 13-year-old son, Afan, whereas the injured lady has been recognized as Rubina.
Based on police, the dumper driver fled the scene.
Family of the deceased arrived on the Chhipa morgue to gather the our bodies. Talking to ARY Information, the grieving household shared that the victims have been residents of Hijrat Colony and have been getting back from Khuda Ki Basti.
Saleem labored as a safety guard in a personal firm and was the daddy of six youngsters from two wives. His son, Afan, was a second-grade scholar.
